New article posted about this

"New! Petrol & supermarket 1.5% cashback: The MBNA Amex* pays 1.5% cashback at all major petrol stations and supermarkets, eg, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Waitrose & Ocado, plus 0.75% cashback elsewhere. As some smaller retailers don't accept Amex, alternatively MBNA Visa* pays 1.25% cashback on supermarket/fuel and 0.5% elsewhere. For £300/week family spending, half on fuel & food, that's £175/year cashback (£137 on the Visa). If you don't fully repay, they're 18.9% representative APR."

Just applied for the AMEX one to buy my shopping/petrol. You also get http://www.mbna.co.uk/protection-security/mcafee/index.html included (Free McAfee)

Just been accepted and card will be here in the next few days :) Defo worth it, every little helps nower days!

Has anyone else had trouble with the online application for this?

I go all the way through but when I get to the "Submit" box the button is properly shown - there's just that funny little icon that normally means a bad link.
I click on it anyway and it just throws me back tot he last page, as if I've missed out a tickbox or something.

This is in Chrome, but have also tried in IE - same problem. I've also disabled my AVG anti-virus stuff but no joy.

    Any thoughts anyone? Please?!

On the last page, if you look part way down, it has a box like 'Tick Here' and beneath it says 'If you tick above ........... etc etc' You only need to tick it if you take the phone sos and the other product available. I found thats what made my application not go through.

Was accepted, they emailed me the decision, not a lot of limit (3.5k) but ok given the amount of open credit available to me, they must of tightened up their lending criteria (which is a good thing)

This will compliment my Capital One cashback card nicely ~:D

    Thanks for highlighting that :p
  • I too have added this card to my wallet - I'll use it for my food n' petrol and use my Capital One Cashback card for everything else :D

One point worth noting if you plan to apply for this card......make sure your printer is ready to go before you start the application process. After I had completed all the necessary pages, I had a short pause before I had a congrats screen pop up saying I had been excepted!

I went to print it off but noticed the printer was low on paper, so I topped it up. When I got back to my machine the details of my application had disappeared and it had gone back to the original home screen.

I phoned up mbna and they said due to the nature of what is displayed, it is programmed to only be there for a short period.

They were very helpful and said not to worry, they told me some of the info and said I will receive all the details via email and post - just would have been nice to print it off aswell.

They say, no sorry we can't give cashback on credit cards, only on debit cards :(
