I have an apache server setup (winxp) on my home network running a php site.
I am trying to connect to it using the name of the pc e.g.
http://myserver/index.php
This does not work on the ipod but does work on a pc using IE/Firefox/Safari.
If I use the IP address then it does work (for pc and ipod) e.g.
http://192.168.1.10/index.php
Does anyone know why the PC name doesn't work and how to get it to work on the ipod?

I think you need to convert it to ipod resolution before you can view it on there.

It's nothing to do with that. He didn't even say he was talking about video, and he can access the files via the ip address, just not the resolved name.I think you need to convert it to ipod resolution before you can view it on there.
OP - what version of iOS do you have on your ipod?poppy100 -
The server I'm running is XAMPP and afaik it doesn't have a dns server. After a quick search I have found some stuff about editing some config files so that might be worth a try. I guess the ipod OS network layer works differently to PC's and that's why it doesn't work if it is DNS.gaming_guy wrote: »I have a feeling that it may be DNS related.
If you have a local DNS server, you could create a record on the server that resolves myserver to 192.168.1.10 and see if it works then. If you have a jailbroken ipod, you could try editing the hosts file but it will be at your own risk.
