Poundland floor tiles

Saw these in my local poundland and wondered if anyone has used them - sounds daft but we are in a council flat and dont have much money coming in as bf recently lost his job but our flat is only half carpeted.

So we were thinking ot make it look a bit more presentable we would get some floor tiles and put them throughout and then break them up with rugs and mats.

I just wondered if anyone had any experience of usign them - if they are any good to use and would i be able to put soem sort of lining down to help keep the flat warm underneath it before i lay them?? am a total DIY novice unless its painting basically!

any help appreciated

love

Sam

We bought some last year as a temporary floor covering for a room.

    They were rubbish.

Each tile comes with a paper backing which you peel off before laying but the tiles are so thin that each time we peeled of the paper the corners of the tile would crack and rendered unusable.

I would imagine by the time you costed in wastage whilst laying these then added the cost of rugs etc you would be better off with a cheap carpet in the meantime.

(we never laid the room - we bought some lino instead )

I have some in my utility room. The floor is walked on daily, and it still looks ok. None of the tiles cracked and they were easy to lay. You do have to store them flat before using and I would think if they are cold they are more likely to crack when you take the backing off. Good luck:)

There Ok but not great, a cheap way to make your flat warmer on the cheap is to lay hardboard down before you carpet / tile, if you just want a covering fr a couple of months these will be fine but for a long term flooring it really pays to pay more than £1. Carpet tiltes could be a better option.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

  • Thanks all.

Yeah we just want to make the flat look more presentable becasue we are due to swap after Xmas but with it being only half carpeted it doesnt make a great impression if we do want to swap.

They are being used in the front room and in the hallway and the bedrooms are remaining carpeted so it will be warm enough hopefully like i said we are looking to buy rugs to put on the floor to break it up a bit.

Thanks fo rthe advice all - ill make sure i grab soem extra glue too.

I bought these and used them for the bathroom! To disguise the cruddy old vinyl the other tenant left. No problems with water - surprisingly they seem unaffected by large pools of water, none seems to get down the joins between the tiles. I used sillicon sealent against the skirting etc..
They are fine. No problems laying them. Use the backing paper from a tile to cut and try to fit around difficult areas pipes etc...when you get a shape that fits, using the backing paper as a stencil and then mark the shape out on the top of the tile, and cut with a stanley knife.
If one cracks (didnt for me though) just pay £1 for another 5-6! Total cost - £8.
so says another ordinary mug fighting the 1% who own the political machine grinding them down from on high...
