Many genuine goods can be bought cheaper in the Far East. I used to live there so know this for a fact. Manufacturer's price goods at whatever price they think the local market will take.

In the Ebay resolution center, how do I process this? The seller has just processed it to state where it says: "The seller has agreed to issue a full refund when you return the item."

It now expects me to post it back, as it stays: "Please return the item and respond to the case with tracking information."

Not being funny OP, but if you know the item is manufactured in Italy, by an Italian company presumably, then why buy from an ebay seller in China in the first place?

    Olias

Have to agree - most fake items are made in China. Chances of it/them being real...zero.

If the seller can't prove that the goods are genuine then ebay will ask the buyer to destroy it.
I think ebay have now changed this to making a buyer return for a refund everytime and not getting involved with the dispute at all other than telling a buyer to return the item tracked as a lot of buyers were using this process to get free items.
The paypal process is still the same where a buyer must prove the item is fake and they only get 10 days to give paypal the proof I think ebay changed their system to be more inline with paypals system and as a lot of buyers started claims on the grounds the item was fake and then got refunded and kept the item.
A fake iPod is not a good deal when you have paid for it but it is a great deal if you get it as a free gift.

    Can you provide a link.

As of now, the policy is as hermums posts.
What happens if a buyer believes an item is counterfeit?

eBay Buyer Protection applies to items that are suspected of being counterfeit, subject to the above and these additional terms:
Sellers and buyers must work together in good faith during the resolution process to satisfy buyer concerns that an item may not be authentic. For example, sellers should provide the buyer with appropriate documentation or other assurances that the item is authentic, if such information is available.

Hi Chancesare I got told about the change by an advisor at ebay while having a bit of a chat sorting out something else about a week ago.
They said as the OP has now said as well that if the seller agrees to a refund upon return of an item ebay will back out of the dispute and just advise the buyer to return the item by trackable means even in the case of a fake item claim.

eBay advisors are known for their fobbing/lying and mis-advice.

Unless it is in writing I would not believe it.

I believe that for international items paypal will accept proof of posting rather than a tracking ref which is much more expensive. I say this because when I've had an international claim in the past paypal have stated that if the buyer provides proof of posting (not tracking) they will refund.

When the Post Office print out a proof of posting it will state the weight and the country it's been posted to. The PO manually then write the address on it.

This may not be the case anymore but that's what it stated at the time.

Paypal are more strict that ebay.

This has never been policy. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery. Tracking is the only evidence that will defend/prove a claim.

leave a neg, chances are they will quickly contact you offering a no quibble refund on condition that you retract the feedback.

that is if they are knowingly selling fakes.

that was my experience anyway with a flash memory stick
