Do I need to disclose this?

I'm currently learning to drive, yesterday a driver pulled out infront of me at a mini roundabout and I hit her. Only going about 10-15mph at the time, but the two cars did end up with rather impressed dents.

What I'm wondering, is even though, it wasn't my fault, and this incident will only involve my instructors insurance, will I have to inform any insurance companies that I use about this, in the future for insuring a car after I've passed my test?

Thanks

Doesn't matter whether it was your fault or not - companies ask for accidents you've been involved in not accidents you have caused. Unfair but the way it goes :-(

  • Erm. I'm really not sure about what the above have posted. My brother is a driving instructor and any accidents his students have just go onto a big old list.

If your instructor works for a big company like BSM, i would ask his advice.

There are different rules when you are learning to drive and the insurance is done through an instructor/company.

But when you apply for insurance they will ask have yu had any accidents/incidents in the past x years,
they dont say 'since yu passed your test' answer NO at your peril

Isn't the Driving Instructor officially in charge of the car, rather than the learner driver?

They go on a "big old list"!! Exactly why you must answer insurance questions truthfully!

And why would a BSM instructor be able to give permission to provisional licence holders to lie when they apply for insurance?

What is the difference between having an incident whilst driving a school car/driving a company car/driving your parents' car/driving your bf's car etc?

Don't know if it does many any difference, but my instructor is under the Red Driving franchise.

    Heather,

If you get a question like this;-
Has anyone who may drive been involved in any motor accident or loss, including fires and thefts, within the past 5 years, including pending claims and those not resulting in a claim?
    Can you honestly answer, "no"?
