Cheapest way to transport a medium-sized dining table?

A friend is giving me his old dining table just to use temporarily in our new place (mainly for storing things on!). However, it's a fair old size so won't fit in our estate car.
What's the cheapest way to get it from his house to ours - a distance of around 7 miles?

Look up your local Gumtree, small ads, newsagent window, etc for same0 -
Would it fit in a friend's 7-seater where they can remove or fold down the seats?

Cheers all. A man with a van quoted £25 so that's cheaper than buying a roof rack and less hassle. The table is worth several hundred quid so it'll be £25 well spent.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0

put a quilt on top of car roof, put table on top with the legs in the air, strap very very tightly and securely and don't go under any low bridges!
£25 quid probably well spent to let someone else do it.0
