What Are You Doing For Christmas

I am going to be spending christmas at home with my parents and my boyfriend is going to his family for christmas. Going to miss him so much, and I am trying really hard not to sulk
. I have budgeted all the money I will need for presents and have ideas of what to but everyone. Just need to do the actual shopping now . My bf and I are not going to be buying each other anything for christmas as we cant afford it. Nov and Dec have a lot of unexpected bills. Instead we are going to save some money in january and go to glasgow for a few days away. Cant wait!!! :j Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 086Proud to be dealing with my debts !Total Debt: Was £6368.84  now £945.36Sealed Pot Challenge 049 Aim £5000 -
Wow...have a lovely time then. Happy hols for when you go.climbgirl wrote:I'm skipping Christmas this year, I'm flying on Christmas day (the flight was £400 cheaper this way
) So my christmas will be pretty cheap and straightforward. I've got 5 people to buy for and so far they've all come in at under £20 because I've been hunting for bargains for the last 3 or 4 months.
Quite excited about skipping it, I love the build-up and all the parties but I find Christmas Day itself a real anti-climax. So this is the perfect solution!

Thanks! Rather dreading the 25 hours of flying time but it'll be brilliant once I land. I'm heading home to see friends and family, haven't been back in 3 years. Worth skipping Christmas Day for I think!

.
I've got quite a few left to buy but you've inspired me now Storm. Thanks. :T xOfficial DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0 -

Um I know what you mean. I've only flown twice and both times to Spain, and that was donkeys years ago. Just use the flying time to be pampered by the air stewards.

I will be locking the doors and windows drawing the curtains and ignoring Christmas. May just stay in bed!
Christmas this year IS really cancelled. We have no money, luckily we dont have children either. My big extended family are all in Wales and my parents will be enjoying themselves at my brothers with their children.
My husbands family consists of his Nan who is pampered in a care home and doesnt like disruption of visitors, father in law is very ill and rapidly going 'downhill' so may be his last Christmas (hope he makes it to New year) and Mother in law who is so worn out she is depressed and stressed out so doesnt want CHristmas either.
Her other son and his girlfriend have said they wont bother to visit as they have a 4 month old baby and its too much hassle so they would rather spend it with her parents. In laws have only seen new baby twice after having to make the effort to travel 3 hours each way to see it. Even though father in law is so ill, (hes constantly suffering mini strokes).
We have no money as dealing with debts so no turkey, no tinsel no tree no presents for me, husband, cat, dog family. I have asked for nothing except everyone have a happy 2007 and sign up to MSE.
I am so thankfull for what I have already as there are people with a lot less, all around the world, and the idea that christmas revolves around eating bucket loads and spending a fortune on gifts irritates me. At least I have food water and shelter and we are not at war etc.
So unless I put on my usual brave face and try to jolly things up for them even though they clearly want to be left alone. There is no Christmas again this year!
Merry Christmas and happy spending to one and all!
Have fun

I'm not sure what we're doing for Christmas yet. The last couple of years we've been skint, so we've not done anything fancy. We don't have many people to buy for, and our main group of friends is doing a secret santa thing this year, so that has saved us some money.
Hubby and I are thinking of exchanging promises - we're hoping to be more financially sorted around feb / march, so we're going to pick out things that we really want for then, and vow to treat each other when that comes round.DFW Nerd No. 140

Well I'm going to my Mum's, she stays near Inverary (the scots will know) My b/f is flying back home (we live together but things aint too hot) he's from Ireland. So for the 4th year running we have not spent christmas together!
Anyway I'll be spending it with my Mum and partner, niece and nephew, sister and bro in-law. It's a lovely spot in Scotland and beautiful at this time of year. Lots of beautiful walks nearby where i'll be doing alot of thinking re-relationships etc...
