Diesel car UNLEADED FUEL
Comments

Its better than putting diesel in a petrol car but your looking at an approx £300 bill to have the whole system cleaned out provided no damage has occured. Do not drive it again until you have consulted your garage.
Cheers
Its the other way round, petrol in diesel is much worse than diesel in petrolANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -
my old man works for pug, and when extracting the wrong fuel from a car they would just dispose of the fuel, so it was often available to for people to take away. I drove a 15 year old micra at the time so would often get a little bit of dirty unleaded to put in mine...
ive personally never understood how people put the wrong fuel in...0 -

Correct, but on this thread the car concerned is a common rail diesel, so its not good for thatANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -
I always never understood how people did this, I drove unleaded cars for years this is my first diesel, but saying that, I have filled it up at least 30times without any bother.0

'fraid that isn't so.
Diesel in a petrol car doesn't do much damage, usually produces a lot of white smoke though !
Petrol in a diesel car can completely write off the injector pump; and all the fuel lines will need cleaning through. Diesel is an oil, injector pumps are designed such that the fuel they pump actually acts as a lubricant for the pump.
Petrol is a spirit which will not lubricate the pump but will also rapidly wash out any diesel remaining inside the pump.
"Petrol wrecks diesel engine lubrication processes and is particularly damaging to a diesel engine's costly, high-pressure fuel pump, which operates at up to 2,050bar (30,000psi). Petrol removes the pump case hardening and if a film of hardened metal disintegrates into swarf it will greatly harm or even wreck an engine's internal organs".
DO NOT read this if you are of a nervous disposition !!!

You can usually get away with a small amount of petrol - if you realise your mistake early on - but £30 worth - ?????0 -
Ask yourself this question -- would you buy a misfuelled CR diesel car?
'Cause I certainly wouldn't.
Look up "misfuelled common rail diesel" in Google and prepare to be shocked.0 -

It doesn't help when you drive several cars over the course of a day, and the petrol stations who don't have standardised colours for their pumps. The man without a signature.0 -
Try not to worry too much - I did it with my brand new 09 plate Citroen Berlingo Common Rail last October (about five miles). AA fuel assist came out and emptied it at the roadside - I was well miffed though because I always fill right up and squeezed £59.50 in it - fuel assist put £15 worth in so I went straight into the garage and popped another £55.00 in to the top:eek: A very expensive lesson:D He also offered to put some additive in it to put the coating back on the injectors for £20 which we did - and before anyone says that it was a complete waste of time and money - I don't care it's already in!
And, it is very easy to do - we are only human after all - my girls wanted to go to the 'green' petrol station and I said 'no, we are going to the blue one' - they were still rattling on about 'green petrol' as I started to fill up:rotfl:
It did sound like a bag of nails for a few miles after but is fine - £309.50 worse off though!!!
Don't google there are horror stories but I think you have to be really unlucky and as long as you haven't driven far the risk is minimal - the guy who emptied ours reckoned fifty miles+ and you maybe need to start and stress!
Mine runs lovely and get 55 to the gallon.0
