.exe wont open folllowing trojan

Hi there
I helped my mate remove 4 trojans this wek using Super Anti Spyware.
However, now she i unable to go open .exe, windows media player etc.
I had a look on google, and found this: www dougknox com
It looks like it will repair the association, just wanted to check if this was the right thing to do, bearing in mind it is not my PC!
