Hi
Does anyone know of any reputable data entry companies I can approach. I have tried a few but they ask for monry up front, which I am not prepared to risk!
Thanks for your help.

What sort of data entry work are you after?
I do some data entry on a self-employed basis. I mainly work on websites adding products etc.
Have you tried the likes of People Per Hour where you bid for the work? I'm new on there myself and haven't been successful yet, but you never know.0 -

Mark, you're everywhere! (Michelle from FreelanceUK)
OP, I'd echo the above re: looking into getting some work on your own rather than through a dodgy company.
If you're reliable and can take on various admin tasks as well as just data entry there are tons of freelancers and small companies who hire virtual assistants. Maybe something you could investigate further.0 -
Hello Michelle!
I hope you're well. I guess I could say the same to you about being everywhere!
Best of luck to the OP anyway. It's hard work getting the work on your own, but I'm slowly getting there and I know that 'Kiramanic' has worked very hard to get where she is.0 -
Hi,
My missus is looking for work on a short term basis and has found this company dataentryclub. Its processing emails etc. They're looking for £10 up front. I've got the feeling its either a scam or its hundreds of work for little reward?
Anyone any advice or used this company, the website aint the most professional looking.

Hi everyone,
Where I am based there is a major shortage of office work and I am commuting for hours on end just for 4 hours work each day at the moment as it's all I can do. I am looking to start working from home where I can do some Data Entry/Typing from home, but struggling to figure out which stuff is legit and where the robbers are.
I have found a website where they have a lot of jobs going where they're offering people training packs for £9.99 and then once you have completed that you can just get on and work and earn as much as you can. I don't know whether to pay it or whether to put it down to a scam?
The company I have come across is called: homework 24-7
If anyone has some tips as to what channels to take and/or websites/phone numbers that would be great!!

I would never pay any money up front for a job or "training pack".
Just google the company with scam after and see if anyone has posted about them. Thanks to all who post comps!

wouldn't even bother googling really - any company that wants money up front for "training materials" or "training packs" is a scam, plain and simple.0

I agree, don't bother with companies upfront but it's always worth checking google for any your unsure of which don't ask for cash as well. Thanks to all who post comps!

First of all you did the right thing. Money up front is always a scam. Always! Money for 'training packs' is always a scam! Always! Repeat that to yourself several times! It will save you a lot of hassle.
I think Odesk has quite a few data entry jobs to do from home. It's sort of a cross between ebay and facebook for people who need jobs doing, and people looking for work. Think you can advertise your services on there too.
Please excercise caution though, I have not used them and can't vouch for the legitimacy of the advertisers on the site. Although they do have a feedback system so you can check potential hirers.
Also, any offer you get, run a quick common sense check. Would this job be easier and cheaper filled by paying someone £6-7 an hour to do it in an office? Is so why aren't they doing that?
I would think that you will be looking at around minimum wage or less as otherwise they could just hire someone normally. Be very, very, very suspicious of anyone offering things like £15/hour or payments per 'invoice processed' or similar. Never seen one of these that was legit!
Anyway hope this helps and good luck with your search!0 -
That is a coincidence as I had been looking at these sites today, they are getting more and more popular, well in the advertising side.
I think they are a con to be honest, especially when they charge up front.
A few months ago, I signed up for automated profits and stupidly paid quite a hefty fee. Then when I was leaving the page, it came up with a pop up box saying, "Special offer only one left" and sold me something else. In the end, I think I purchased £70 worth of information.
The pack was some free links on e-books and all I had to do was name a price for them, submit them to search engines and wait for people to buy the E-book. The information was on diets, tatoos, and allsorts of American stuff.
I panicked and not long after I put in a dispute with paypal and got all my money back.
Now if they are calling it data entry instead I'm not sure, but there were tons of this stuff advertised on a local radio stations website today.
I almost fell for it again, then it all started looking familiar.0
