Barclaycard 3% cashback a lie?

I applied for a Barclaycard because I was sent a brochure saying it will provide 3% cashback on supermarket food and petrol purchases. At that time, it seems great because I shop regularly at ASDA and getting 3% cashback on that is great! So when I got my card, I happily spent about £60 on Barclaycard thinking I'll get back about £1.80 cashback.
Finally the credit card bill for the month arrived and, just as I feared, the cashback is different. I only got 0.5% cashback! I quickly emailed to Barclaycard and they replied saying the extra 2.5% is for food and petrol only. I emailed back saying that it is very clear on my statement that I shopped at ASDA and I bought food. They replied asking me to send documentary proof of the food purchase! So am I supposed to pay postage to send them my ASDA receipts just to get back £1.60? And must I do this every month? Does anyone has successfully claimed a 3% cashback on food on Barclaycard?

Find out if there is a limit to how long you have to claim. It occurs that if they need to see evidence each time you could send in reciepts every 3 months or so.
Also. Do their terms and conditions define what constitutes a food purchase? IE does it say you have to claim the money or do they assume spending between specific amounts is seen as legit and you claim the rest?

Thanks for the reply.
The sneaky thing about Barclaycard is that the terms and conditions that came with the card says nothing about the cashback offer or what should be done to claim cashback. The only place the 3% cashback on supermarket food/petrol purchase was mentioned was in the unsolicited invitation letter sent to me earlier in the month and in the letter, it did not mention anything about sending in receipts to claim.
I think I'll just forget it, too much hassle just for a quid  . I'll use other cashback credit cards now

Hi all,
Good news! I just received a letter from Barclaycard that they couldn't process the 2.5% extra cashback for this month's statement and will put the cashback into the next month's statement :j ! Well that's more like it ain't.
Will definitely keep an eye out for the cashback and update everyone later.
