HP laptop -" Mottled"screen

I bought a new HP G56-130SA laptop a few weeks ago. I noticed tonight that the top inch of the screen has a mottled effect - a bit like tie-dye!
I am not sure what is causing this and if it will spread to the main part of the screen which is ok just now.
Any experience of this? Any advice?
