I too am a os [STRIKE]lurker[/STRIKE] reader.
I have finally started some home baking. I had never baked cakes or biccies before and now my kids prefer homemade to shop brought so am well impressed with that.:j( next week going to try the hobnobs that everyone is raving about)
I had tried flying a few years ago and as OP have started it again.
I am meal planning -something I thought I would never do or could do with fussy eaters. But started in Jan and as everyone has agreed the menu meals time is less stressful.
I shop less as the meal planning helps clear the cupboards.
try NSD and try to bulk buy when special offers are on.
have started using less detergent in the washing machine.
regularly check out grabbit boards before shopping.
Have got in the habit of wearing jumpers and socks in the evenings so the heating can stay off till later( we were a t-shirts and shorts fam with the heating blasing before) :Asealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198

-Started proper home cooking rather than frozen chips and convenience stuff.
-Batch cook at weekends for lunches or quick meals when I'm tired after work
-bought and use a slow cooker.
-Started baking my own bread.
-use stardrops to clean pretty much everything!!
I'm sure there's more things you amazing people have taught me, but these are probably the most prevalent in my mind right now
Oh, and the most important thing, saved ££££££s from all the tips and tricks I've learnt.0 -
Yey! I also now use less detergent and have softer clothes
And I too like to accomplish NSD's - hard when I used to be a shopaholic lol but am doing it.
Meal planning makes my whole day less stressful as I'm not worrying about what to cook unless I forget to meal plan for DD lol.
I have also set myself a challenge to save a set amount per month. Managed last month and heading the same way this month.
Oooh I also look for home made remedies for things like cleaners/stain removers etc.
Crikey I could be up all night trying to list the things I've changed.

Initially felt slightly inadequate and a bit confused (rubber chicken???) then I realised what an inspirational and supportive place it is and as a result I have made many changes to the way I live my life and continue to pick up ideas and hints that continue to improve the way I live.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Must try star drops and look up what I can use it for - I can't believe I haven't tried it its been around so long even my nan used to use it.
Rummer that was a lovely post, it is a really inspirational place, I too love picking up tips.
Another of mine is.....
I constantly bleat on about MSE to anyone who listens
I also now post on online forums - something I've never done before!

I have restarted baking, now I never buy biscuits/cakes but bake my own.
make all our meals from scratch.
keep on top of housework
stick to shopping list and meal plan
dont waste as much money on junk
dry my washing outside on dry days
use my slow cooker
use up leftovers not waste them
bulk out mince with extra veggies
stopped buying packet sauces
but generally the biggest change for me is how I feel about myself. I feel proud to be a sort of old fashioned housewife, taking care of my family, feeding them well and just feeling more relaxed
I reckon the biggest and best change is finding 'the real me' and stopped being someone who I thought I should be/act like.sealed pot challenge member 1063..pot emptied to go toward credit card.new pot started 27/3.;)

i have definatly cut back on shopping trips and spending £20 on just a loaf of bread from the supermarket trips
have a lots of freezer food with yellow stickies on
and no longer have a paper work coffee table where letters opened and some unopened with empty envelopes used to mulitply :rotfl:0 -
met some amazing people both 'virtually' and in reality you all know who you are so take a pat on the back.I have found that there is almost no problem that can't be fixed by posting a query on here,I had some terrific support when undergoing my breast cancer and all the grotty chemo and the best of all I have got the great recipe for 'Twinks ' cookies which my DGS all manage to make vanish in very short shrift .So thanks a buch chums I think you are all splendid0

TRYINGTOSWIM - I totally agree with you that the biggest change is inside your head. I too get a lot of satisfaction from swimming against the tide of consumerism and waste.0
