use a file splitter, or zip it (if it isn't compressed already)Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Have you tried zipping the file up first to compress it?0

Hi
Yes its zipped already, and would a file splitter be ok for a zipped .exe file and any reccomendations, also I used to know a program where I defined the file I wanted to send in ftp and it gave a url to who I wanted to send it to and it was quick as anything, but I can't remember the name of the ftp program.0 -

1. Download this free excellent archiving product (WINRAR) which is better than WinZip in my opionion - I'm an ICT professional.
http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10583567.html?tag=lst-0-1
2. Install, pretty straight forward instructions.
3. Right click the large file you want archive and select option "Add to archive"
4. In the window (bottom left hand corner) select "Split to volumes, bytes" and enter the size of each RAR archive you want. For 100Mb you could do say, '10' 10MB ones.
5. Click OK and it's done!0 -

WinRar had the same compression ration as Winzip for this particular file.0 -

Not sure if there's a limit using Messenger but if you and the person you want to send the file both had it you could try sending via that.0 -

Mmmm never thought of that, lol
albertross does the file splitter put it back together again? I expect it does
Yeah it does I just read the gumph.0 -
You could try using NetMeeting.
To run in Windows XP go to Start > Run > then type "conf" in. This will launch NetMeeting which is as simple as messenger to use and should be a built in component into all XP machines. Previous versions of windows do have NetMeeting but I cant remember which versions contain it as standard. File transfer is included in NetMeeting and may be a little more reliable than Messenger. Messenger can certainly be a little dodgy with transfer speeds too.0 -
