Price for painting windows and doors.

Options
My mum needs some window and door exteriors painting, when the weather improves slightly. Normally I would do it for her, but since she has moved 150 miles away, that isn't very practical. I always do my own DIY, so have no idea what would be a fair quote, hopefully a forum member will be able to give me some idea.

The job is:
2 doors, paintwork sound but a little worn, needing a top coat.
2 windows about two foot square, paintwork poor, need a good prep and painting, one needs slight filling on the sill.
2 windows 1ft by 1ft 6in reasonable paintwork, prep and painting.

any ideas?

Any decent decorator would charge more than £100-00. You can't just sand a window and top coat it as the top coat won't adhere to the existing paintwork.

Think about it if a window needs prep work then it needs at least 2 undercoats and a top coat. How will they do all 3 coats in less than a day.If it needs filling too then your looking at spot priming before you even get to undercoating.

For £100-00 you will get exactly what you pay for .......a DIY job that will need doing properly 12 month later...

The cost will depend entirely on location and what work needs to be carried out.Get at least 3 quotes..

Obviously not a very good one if you prep windows, prime, 2 undercoats and gloss all in one day............;)

Out of interest what paint would you use?
