Barclays ... This will make you smile...

Hi All
Thought I'd share this with you all ...
I had a query with a direct debit today so called Barclays to sort it, which they did, but whilst on I was told by the CSR that I'd been a loyal member since '84, kept in credit etc.... and they would like to offer me an exclusive savings account which is not available to general public ..... wow I thought, this could be good ..... but I was disappointed to learn that for my 22 years loyal service I could get a savings rate of a whopping 3.21% !!

Wow am I a lucky guy!! :rotfl: makes me feel very special!

Not sure if I should let this good deal be known to other folk!!

Needless to say i did'nt take them up..!!

by the way will be dropping them early next year when I'm reviewing mortgage/current account etc....

Sounds like they deserve to lose your custom with 'exclusive' offers like that!

Doesn't quite sound right - but your double post made me think,

Barclays, Barclays, so funny I had to smile twice!! :rotfl:

Got a similar call from LTSB last week but at least they offered 5.5% fixed for 12 months - seeing as 5.45% is available on instant access, with every chance of the BoE rate increasing early next year, I also declined.

  • Did you get offered their Premier current account?

does not really matter if nett or gross ... pretty poor either way! (i stopped listening to be honest!)

They did'nt offer me a premier account - doubt i've missed out on much judging by this... interest at 0.01% by any chance?

The thing that really annoyed me was that this was the first time I've ever had to call Barclays - the first chap was helpful and clear (and spoke English), but the direct debit expert was not and I had great difficulty understanding her - I mean real difficulty (everything repeated 5 times due to obvious oversees accent - no offence intended..) - considering it's support over telephone on delicate financial matters where clarity is paramount this is not good enough and was the last straw...
