The browser is the thing you use to get online. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome?

I'd go with the Trend Micro as the cause

uninstall it and see if it cures it

( you normally find new laptops come with a trial of Norton or Mcaffee , are you sure that you are not running one of those as well ? , there will be a yellow Norton Circle or a Red M )

you should not run 2 antivirus at the same time , may also be the problem

go to Start on the bottom left, then Control Panel, then Programs and uninstall the ones you are NOT using

Yes, so you should download one of the many free and decent antivirus programs such as Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast or Avira.

Before you remove the Trend antivirus why not download Firefox web browser (an alternative and sometimes more secure) and try that? - When installed it offers to copy the same favourites so you can straight to using it to browse the web, although they call them bookmarks rather than favourites.

It has other benefits such as an 'ad block' add on so it stops most pesky adverts, which can sometimes also lead to other infections or crud so well worth a try.
