Help!! Cant get holiday insurance

Hi
Can anyone please help? I am posting on behalf of my parents who are unable to get any travel insurance at all due to medical problems. Just a brief history my dad had both his hips replaced 5 years ago, the following year developed diabetes which is controlled with tablets. Then 2 years ago was diagnosed with bowel cancer which he had surgery/chemo/radiotherapy and a temporary ileostomy for. The ileostomy was reversed last september. But during the last 2 years he has been in hospital with pancreatitis, pericarditis and blood in his urine which turned out to be kidney stones.

Both my parents are desperate to go out to Canada to see my sister and children, they emigrated there last year. My mum has rung just about every insurance company that she could find and not one of them would insure them. We expected it to be expensive due to my dads problems but not to be refused completely. Since checking this out my mum has been diagnosed with aortic stenosis and a leaking heart valve which she is waiting to have surgery for, but once she has had the operation that will be cured. My parents are giving up on seeing my sister and family, they just want to see where they live for themselves and know that they are settled. Does anyone know of an insurance company that would insure my mum and dad, or even who to try next.

I would be so grateful if i could be pointed in the right direction just to get them there. My mum has even considered taking a risk and not getting insurance, but would prefer not to do that if at all possible and i wouldn't be happy them doing that either.:(

I would seriously be expecting your sister and family to travel here.
Have they both asked the doctor if they are fit to travel for a long flight?

Orbis Insurance might be able to help.

Someone on this forum has, in the past, recommended Diabetes UK for travel insurance.
Sorry I don't have any experience of it but it may be worth a look?

Try Saga holiday insurance - a copy of their policy booklet is available online, which you could read and determine if it's suitable for them?

Have you considered consulting a local broker that is a professional in insurance and deals with cases every day and has liability insurance.
They could do the legwork (research) for you and probably even know which companies to try from their professional experience.

They don't generally charge any direct payment for this as they take commission.
You could of course miss out on on-line discounts but then it's not a simple case to do yourself and they might have access to discounts themselves.

I've just used Fish Insurance to get Travel Insurance covering OH's extensive list of medical conditions. (This was recommended in another thread, but I can't find it to link to). Premium quoted was much lower than others and all his conditions were covered.

try insure and go insurance - ive just found a link where you can get 10% off also: http://resellers.insureandgo.com/wanderlust/default.aspx?promocode=easter11

a friend originally recommended this to me as covers many pre-existing medical conditions and has no age limit, so worth a shot perhaps? good luck, hope this helps.
