a bit of digging and he has his own website and multiple ebay accounts, buys in bulk from some regular accounts (suppliers? his own accounts?) leaving pos feedback but ALWAYS leaves negs for private individuals.

Always complains about postage most charge £3, as did I, but on his personal website he charges £3.75.

After I refused the £1 discount off item, he complained about cost of postage saying it would cost less than £1 stamp price 2nd class, would I take £2 (I had charged £3 in line with other sellers). I refused.

Stamp £1.51, jiffy 49p (i know you can buy them in bulk cheap but I use about 2 a year so pay over) £1 for my time/petrol. On his personal website he charges £3.75 for 1st class.

He paid immediately after my refusal, I despatched within the hour. Will await my feedback.
    OPs so far £42,139

I know this guy sounds like a right one, but you are asking for low feedback scores adding money onto p&p for time/petrol. Most buyers don't like seeing they have been charged more for postage than it actually cost and they couldn't give a monkeys about a seller trying to explain it away as time, petrol, etc.

You're better off adding extra to the cost of the item rather than postage.
  • Personally I think I would ignore him and launch a NPB at the earliest time - people agree to pay a certain amount when they win the item, be it BIN or auction.

I'm beginning to wish I had never seen this board though - I have a few things I want to sell but I don't think I could ever trust them to Ebay, knowing my luck I'd end up with all the bad bidders and none of the good. Funny thing is I quite happily buy from there, and could never con a seller, just too afraid of being conned myself, especially as they are relatively high value items.

This board can seem alarming but remember that this is where we hear about the rare occasions when things have gone wrong. Millions of transactions go through perfectly well that would make for very dull reading.

The majority of transactions are great on eBay because the people on eBay and the majority of people in general are lovely.
I've been a seller on eBay for quite a while and I can still say that it's not made me lose my faith in people!

As a seller the majority of problems I've experienced are caused by buyers not contacting me with simple queries and being encouraged by eBay to 'take action' before I've had a chance to do anything as simple as answer when the item is due to be delivered! But nothing that I cannot handle. I've won and lost cases, had feedback revised, had strange and unusual requests etc but I'm still happy to be a seller on eBay because these things don't faze you so much when you get some experience and you learn how to sell safely on eBay and not attract dodgy buyers or other problems.

As a buyer the majority of problems I've experienced are sellers selling items that are not as described then tying to twist and turn to avoid refunds! But eBay look after buyers and refunds rather well, I think.

Don't be put off selling on eBay if that's what you want to do! Just make your listings are accurate and your T&C's follow eBay rules very closely but put in a welcoming, very clear way to buyers and you'll be fine like millions of others!.
