I recently sold an item of clothing, buyer wants a £1 discount only sold for £2.20. They haven't paid for item yet, but said if I send them revised invoice they will pay immediately. If I have to go down NPB they are going to neg me straight away I'm sure of it.
Out of last 25 sales they have left 10 negs for others. They have a fb of nearly 5000 (solely buying account)
Not sure how to handle this. Do you think I can avoid the neg by giving the discount, would prefer this to keep my feedback.
Only have 82 private account I'm not a regular ebayer (1 neg which was an error on my part. 99p item that had one part missing (non important part - didn't realise it should have come with it as when we purchased it it didn't have it. However completely understand it as my error).
Alternatively I give the discount and they still give me a neg. This would wreck my percentages.
Any advice. Please

Jeez the nerve of these people astounds me! Tell them you are not willing to negotiate on price and if they would prefer to cancel the transaction you would be happy to do so. If you're too worried about them leaving you a neg (which they obviously have history of) then you need to decide if giving them a £1 off is worth your reputation. This is a chancer using feedback as weapon, there are plenty of them.

You can report them to ebay for feedback extortion. If you contact ebay it is better to phone rather than using messaging service.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0 -
sorry,What's NPB?0

Myrrddyn The buyer hasn't mentioned feedback, so reporting feedback extortion for a discount would be innappropriate.
An experienced buyer begins to know the tricks on eBay and knows how to worry and weaken a seller.
One thing you should not do is reduce your price for fear of a negative. In fact any messages requesting a discount on your eBay message are your best protection later if she later leaves a negative. eBay would most likely remove a negative if you could show the request and a polite refusal.
Another thing in your favour is that haggling outside the BIN or auction negates protection and is disapproved of by eBay.
Another thing in your favour is to remember that she looks as though she wants the item.0 -
Thanks all, I think that he deliberately didn't mention feedback - he will be aware of feedback extortion. he has 5000fb since may 2010 - so buying in very high volumes.
Ebay have said that they will remove comment, if it contradicts their policies, but that neg will still show in percentages, dsrs . Taking me to 97.5% feedback which is terrible
Think I'm going to risk the neg, even with discount he'd have given me it. Will await payment with baited breath.OPs so far £42,139

I'm so sorry that you've been put in this position by this buyer- but when all else fails, stick to your guns. I think you're right to risk a neg, after all, any buyer can leave a neg at the end of a perfect transaction- perfect item with no faults and sent out super-quickly!0

So pleased you're going to tell him to bog off
!!! The more this buyer gets away with it, the more sellers he'll blackmail into discounting items. Why on earth ebay took away the ability to give negatives to buyers, I'll never know!!
I'd be tempte to name and shame, I'd block him straight off!! Wonder how he'll like the thought of being blocked from numerous auctions lol

I'd take a guess that they buy items from people with low-ish feedback count, then ask for a discount before paying, knowing that many of these sellers don't want a neg, then they'll have another account to sell the item on at a profit.
I'd just ignore them, and if they don't pay, open a NPB dispute. If they then complain once the item has arrived, only agree to a refund once they've sent it back.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
ebay at its worst! :mad:0
