Not strictly true, I still can't afford any house right now
Uh-oh.
Will Percy keep his story consistent this time?I CAN AFFORD A HOUSE!
.....
and as mentioned the banks are willing to give us £145k on a mortgage when we last asked, which buys a lot in Oldham.Dare I say I found a 4 bedroom with a swimming pool I can afford

Do you really think that the same opportunities are available for young people in the job market with just GCSEs as there was for young people with just O-Levels 30+ years ago?
I would suggest that is down to grade inflation rather than anything else. Exams were mainly just a form of grading applicants rather than knowing whether they had any useful skills or knowledge for a particular job. When you get to the point where virtually everybody has 10 olevels and a degree, they cease to have any true value.0 -

A great example of this was AO levels.
I took AO maths in 1990 then A level maths in 1992.
Which do you think had the harder syllabus?0 -

Sorry if it appears inconsistant, income wise I can afford a house. Deposit wise I can't afford a house right now, income is in the place and deposit is coming along.
So can I afford a house... yes
So can I afford a house right now... no
Does that clear up any confusion?

Yes, except where you said the bank had offered you £145k.
What you meant was the bank would offer you £145k if you had a deposit, but you don't, so they never actually offered you £145k. You just made that bit up.
All is now clear.

In short you are correct, but the bit about making it up is false, I can't ever remember saying I was offered £145k (read the quote again), I said the bank would be willing to give me £145k. This figure is what the bank gave me when I asked the question 'what if I had a deposit' (I will be honest and say I am not sure exactly what they did to calculate this).
In short I asked the bank what I would be potentially looking at once I have the deposit and they gave me that figure, it was purely for me to check my expectations where realistic to which they are as I am looking at houses currently around £120k.
By all means who knows what will happen with deposit requirement/house prices and the generally willingness of the banks to lend, of course when the deposit is together we will get more accurate figure at the time when we get actual offers, right now I am yet to apply for a mortgage.
Yet again I only use parts of my situation a see relevant to topics, I can see how it may seem fragmented and not make sense but hopefully I have filled in the dots for you.
In the interest of not taking this off topic if you need any further clarification feel free to pm me.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
