How much is too much for a plasterer?

They wouldn't but your purchasers solicitor will be looking for the relevant docs when you want to sell. Its all to do with insulation and u values and other such Prescott invented stuff.
BTW - IIRC it's 25% not 50% but I could be wrong.
Cheers
Seriously?!? Even if it is just a skim?0 -
No not for a skim on top of existing plaster - its when its all hacked back to brick/blockwork on external walls and applies to internal plastering (even when drylining when the appropriate insulation must also be included in the project) or external rendering.Seriously?!? Even if it is just a skim?
As I said its all to do with u values and thermal efficiency in buildings - you know the old save the planet agenda.
I was specifically replying to robv's post which introduced this element.

Now there's a regulation that's just asking to be ignored. As a matter of interest, how would they know?
My sister sold a house last year, and when she asked what work she should declare on the sellers details, the solicitor said, "Oh I shouldn't worry about that, it just complicates matters!"
I was there when the guy came to review the carbon footprint, fuel efficiency issues and give his grade/mark. The whole house had been replastered and it wasn't an issue for him.
I'm with 27col on this. I would ignore it.
(To be doubly sure Marian, you could mention it to the plasterer, who I'm sure would know and be able to advise!

Thanks that makes sense!
In terms of how much is too much. I think it is far more important to find someone who is easy to communicate with and who's previous work you can see.
We had quotes for a 3 bedroom house ranging from £1900 to nearly 10k!!
The high end ones were from builders.
In the end we found a guy who has done a fantastic job between 2-3k
Get recommendations. No point in paying the lowest price only to have to do it all again!0 -
Yes I know but the poster I responded to hadn't read my previous post and frankly, I couldn't be ar..ed to repeat the whole post for his benefit so it was rather out of context.Pretty sure Prescott didn't invent insulation and u-values!!

See http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/externalwalls/ ...25% of external walls.
So EXTERNAL cladding and rendering to walls then; not internal plastering!
So crack-on and plaster at will, Marian!0 -
No - external WALLS which have two sides - an inside and an outside.VanMan2007 wrote: »So EXTERNAL cladding and rendering to walls then; not internal plastering!

to be honest, I wouldnt inform buidling control about the work, they will never know, if ever asked I would say the work was done before the day the new rules came into force so no notifiation needed, same with windows etc etc etc0
