Credit card company offering final settlement-can i demand a cheque?

What you have recieved sounds like a full and final settlement I assume from some claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. I send them out all the time:)
Yes is the simple answer you can have your money returned to you via cheque or bank transfer( depending on the bank they might not do this unless you have a bank account with them).
You are within your rights to ask for this. Likelyhood is they will refund your account in the first instance and then send the money to you and then debit your account. Thats how I work it anyways.
I have not had any problems in the past with the request that you have.
When you return your full and final mark down the bottom of it or attach a covering letter detailing what you want done, hopefully they can get it sorted for you.
Oh, thats great news, so I am in within my rights....so do i reply back along the lines of.......
"I agree to the full and final settlement but decline your offer to offset the amount against my balance and request you transfer the settlement into my current account of XXXX or send a cheque. Regards."0 -

Yep, but as noted it's not a s75 claim. (Though I would apply the same analysis to that if the goods hadn't been paid for.)0 -
Sorry OP i linked your claim to either a dispute and/or Section 75 claim. re-read your post and you mention claim against your charges. i assume bank charges/late payment etc etc.
In this scenario I would again request the money be refunded back to you instead of being applied to your account.
I cant see it being an issue as have in the past requested amounts be returned to customers. If you are struggling I would request to be referred to their complaints department if they are not willing to budge.
As before if your in arreas/behind with payment then dont think you will get it sorted. All the best.0
