HSBC 8% (gross) Regular Savings Account

Dont know how good this deal is, but thought might be of some use to someone.
HSBC are doing an regular savings account that pays out 8% interest gross.
There are some downsides i can see.
1) you have to have a HSBC current account.
2) You cannot withdraw the money in the first year.
3) You cant make partial withdrawals.

According to the conversation I just had with one of the HSBC's customer advisors you have to have an HSBC current account into which your salary is paid each month. So I won't be applying cos I'm perfectly happy with Nationwide and don't want the hassle of moving DD's and SO's.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
