Hi, this is my first post, so please excuse me, if I do anything wrong!!!! I just wanted some advice on a bill I recieved today from a plumber.
Our boiler broke down and the plumber (just a local sole trader) came to fix it! It is a worcester oil bolier nad he replaiced the pump coil. He was in my house for an hour and 5 mins.
The quote has come in at £139.20 - almost double what I was expecting - it this expensive??????, or do I not live in the real world?!!! (1st time i've ever called a plumber out - new home owner!!)
Would really appreciate some feedback!
Thanks everyone!

Why were you expecting a bill of half the size of the one that you received. In any event, if the pump coil, (not sure what that actually is) was replaced, then you would be paying for that in the total of the bill. To be honest, the amount does not seem to be excessive to me. I'll bet that it would have cost a lot more if British Gas had done it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Hello Arnieboy
Welcome to the MSE site.
I'll move your thread to the 'Is This Quote Fair?' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

So what was you expecting and why ? have you had a pump changed recently and/or found out yourself how much that part actually costs??
I appreciate that this is the first time you have ever needed to call a tradesman out so have no idea of how much tradesmen charge but now that you own a house - get used to it _pale_!!0 -
Looks like you've gone over into 2 hours of labour time there. Mine wouldn't have put that 5 mins on his timesheet, he would've rounded it down to the one hour.0

it would be hard to any plumber for less than about 65 quid per hour, or part of. (for small jobs).
plus any materials.
