I've noticed this deal loads of times before - the 'great value' knife set for £1.99 but, then when you go to pay, the postage adds on at £9.99.
I spotted the deal on quidco where you're getting £2.30 cash back if you buy it through them so though I'd have another look to see what they're like as my friend has just got her 1st house.
I went onto the site and filled in my details on the 1st page then when it took me through to payment I changed my mind and decided I could probably get a knife set cheaper from Argos etc.
When I went to close the page it came up with a banner saying that if I stayed I would get 33% off the postage! So the knives were £1.99, p&p was £6.66 & I'll get £2.30 through Quidco = £6.35 for the 5 knives! Happy days
On Quidco the deal is in their freebies section

Thanks for the tip on the postage, just ordered a set.0

If you search on the forum for these, the general concensus is that they are not very good and the claimed RRP of 130 quid is pure fiction.
For example - the comments in the following threads :
set of five jean patrique knives for £1.99+£9.99 postage(normal price 125.75)
Jean Patrique 5 piece professional knife set only £1.99 (RRP £125.75)
Jean-Patrique offers - I don't think so!
Jean Patrique - third party junk mail
while stocks last! Professional 3-Piece Knife Set Only £0.99 (RRP £119.85) at Jean Pa

I never for one minute believed they were worth that amount of money, or that they're professional quality. I do however think that they're a great, cheap present for a young, pregnant couple starting up their first home together.

Just wanted to make you aware that this Company is owned by Chrys Chrysostomou - the registered address of this company is Sittingbourne in Kent. There are posts on here that say the goods have never been received and the money not refunded. Search the name in Google and you will come up with investigations into this guy by the Daily Mirror. Seems he likes to take the money but not send the goods.0

Hi, i just went through and did all the same as yourself- then i noticed that payment was taken for the first item(set of 5 knives) before i had even finished the online transaction! I have since called the customer service line : 0871 426 1402 and cancelled as not happy about this. I was then advised that it would take " approximately " 10 days for the refund. We'll wait and see what happens.:doh:0

I received my knives a couple of weeks ago and think they're great value for money. They cut through things nicely, looks lovely and only cost a few pound. It's a shame for those who've not had good experiences but I can't fault my own.

I've read bad things about these knives but thought tbh that the small amount involved made it worth taking a punt. Knives arrrived after 10 days and I was pleasantly surprised. They are not the best in the world as you would expect, they seem quite light but they are sharp and easy to handle and each seems well enough suited for the task intended. For next to nothing I'd say they are a bargain!Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0

Aye I hear a lot of bad things about them, however I got a set of 3 quite a while ago now and they are still going strong and working great, the only catch is I get a catalogue through the door once or twice a year but that is no big deal.0
