Paypal Investigates Buyers Payment - What Now?

Last Wednesday (9th) I sold a picture on Ebay, buyer paid via Paypal. Paypal then decided it was going to launch an investigation into the payment and put it on hold.

It's been on hold ever since. I've given the information they wanted from me but it seems (after talking to Paypal on the phone twice) that the buyer isn't responding to them.

The buyer hasn't contacted me apart from when I emailed them and they claimed they'd done what was needed but Paypal say he hasn't.

I'm not sure what to do now!

My only thought was to start a NPB and see if that pokes the buyer into doing anything.

Any advice?

from what I hear PP have a reputation for 'losing' stuff sent to them, particularly faxes, so it could well be that the buyer is doing their best.

If they paid then you can't open a NPB against them.

Yeah, I found that out when I messed around with the settings. Have taken off the 'paid' marker on My Ebay as it kept telling me I had something to post. Will just have to wait to see what happens. Annoying as I can't relist the item until it's all sorted out.

Usually if there is a 'hold' on payments in PayPal, the buyer was not aware that there were not enough funds in their PayPal account to cover payment for the item. The funds need to come from the buyers bank account and everyone knows how long that takes! So if you open a case, watch out you don't annoy your buyer who may retaliate with a neg! (he may feel affronted, rightly or wrongly, see?)
Don't penalizing your buyer, 'poking' them with a Non Payment Dispute. It's pointless and potentially harmful to you as a seller Wait for PayPal to release the funds then just send the item.. Play the long game in your own interest on eBay.

Reversed as in sent the payment back to the buyer, leaving you with no payment?

this happened to me last week, i hadn't posted the parcel.
the 'sale' is now showing under items awaiting payment tab but with an arrow on the £ sign.
The buyer hasn't answered me when i emailed querying it so i just won't send it and i'll re list it later. i also won't leave him feed back as i can only leave positive, if he negs me ill deal with that as i can.

I too have had my Paypal account 'on hold' as a recent paymeny was made by 'echeque' so they said, yet I didnt do anything different to what I always do, so where the 'echeque' comes in I dont know. The seller(not Ebay) has to wait 5 days before they will get paid, and subsequently, I will have to wait longer. I am NOT a happy bunny!! There is no shortage of funds to pay, so why do they complicate things....

Yep, exactly the same as mumto2loves experienced!

Thankfully I haven't sent the item, never been in this position before. The buyer hasn't contacted me, tried to do an NPB to warn others but Ebay is convinced I reversed the payment. :wall:

Think I'll just leave it and see what happens...

Well I took a chance and started the cancellation procedure and the buyer has agreed to do it so I've got my FVF back and the saga is finally at an end!
