Hello all. I'm thinking of buying/leasing a Peugeot 3008 for my wife as our family run about. It will probably be the smaller more economical diesel version, and probably a lower spec, oh and new as well.

Anything I should watch out for? Any thoughts on alternatives? Nothing from VW though!

try the owner reviews on www.parkers.co.uk

My old man works for pug and i have noticed the 3008, from what ive read its a good car, an improvement on pug's recent slackness, and this has been said about the 5008, the new 508 and the rcz (which i have driven and it is great...)

the pug diesel engines are awesome, i know a number of people who say the same, I leased through my dad 2 307s and the engines were awesome, first was 1.6 hdi, the second was a 2 litre...

i'd push for a slightly higher spec as then you will get masses of kit

A friend has got one as a (temperary) company car, and I saw it for the 1st time last night. It's Pug ugly (pun intended!) and plastic inside, but as posted before, the diesel engines are good. I'll refrain on suggesting any alternatives as I work for VW

The above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!
  • I bought the 1.6hdi Sport just over a year ago and very pleased with it. It's not everybody's idea of a pretty car and some say just plain ugly but I love the looks myself. Yes it's a bit plastic inside but it's quality plastic and very well screwed together. Lots of room and areas to put the bits and pieces that we all carry around with us.

I have now done 15k and the average mpg over that mileage is 44.7 and on a decent run it works out at 58 mpg. These measurements are brim to brim and not from the computer readout.

Mine gets a lot of passenger use/abuse and still looks as good as new. Over the past 40 years I have had many many cars and the last four have been brand new, this Peugeot is slightly ahead in the pecking order of the lot. A well screwed together car that does exactly what it's meant to do but does it a little better than most.

Don't go for the base model go for either the sport or better still the exclusive as the bolt on goodies are more plentiful but there again it's all down to cost isn't it

The only downside I can find with it is the winter sun can be a real pain when it comes into the cabin between the sunshades. I have had to have a film put on by a local tinting firm. This is not being picky as I am a coach driver who drives behind the huge windscreens and used to it but the Peugeot really can catch you out with the early morning winter sun.

    Hope that helps

Dad's just bought one, smaller diesel engine. Loves it.

I've been in it, enjoyed it, it's lovely to be a passenger in (especially in the back) - though Dad has the one with the panoramic roof.
