Technophobe here I'm afraid !
Recently when using my computer it seems that when I click on the back arrow icon, it doesn't go back to the previous page, but goes back two or sometimes three pages. When I click the forward arrow it sometimes goes forward more than one page also.
Very annoying when it goes back to the screen with all the icons on and you have to click internet explorer again to get back to your home page.
Is there a way to rectify this at all, or am I going to have to live with it................I have a lump hammer ready if it's the latter !
Thanks for any help

Try a different browser-what happens?
Which version of IE are you running?
Cleared your cookies? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Clean the switch on the mouse.
You think you're clicking it once, but it's making intermittent contact which the computer is reading as two or three clicks.
Switch cleaner, compressed air, or swap the settings on the mouse so that you left-click with the right button - which, since it hasn't seen as much use, may be better-behaved.
Try a different mouse (borrow a friend's) or replace the mouse0 -
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
If this fixes the problem, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.0 -

Click on 'About" in the menu barNo free lunch, and no free laptop0

Well it could be a mouse problem but given you started this thread with "Technophobe here I'm afraid !" it is my own bet that you are actually double clicking or even treble clicking instead of clicking just the once. That could be because it doesn't always respond to your click immediately or because you've got used to double clicking on icons before anything happens.0

No, I can honestly say that I only click once and wait for things to happen.
I know lots of people click again if nothing happens within a micro second ..............But I know not to do that

Fair enough but I had to suggest it as I've seen plenty of frantic clickers.
I even do it myself on things with annoyingly slow menu systems and IR controllers where you aren't 100% sure if the first click took or not.0
