I have tried 3 times now to install Windows 7 SP1 on my X64 powered beast and it contantly fails - freezing at 8% installed
Has anyone had any success ?
Is it worth the hassle ?

Worked on mine. 64bit. Haven't noticed any improvements though.0

Im holding off as I've read people having a lot of problems afterwards. SP1 might be scared of "the Beast".0

Worked fine for me - but I did read (sorry can't remember where) that the install can appear to freeze early on but does complete if you leave it running...0

Mine was pretty smooth. The download takes a while though and seems to freeze a few times. Microsoft are pretty terrible at showing how much has downloaded and download speed.0

I installed SP1 to a fully patched Windows 7 64 bit installation from the ISO version and it installed without a problem.0

No problems, running fine on my nuclear power plant0

If there was a genuine problem with it you'd have seen it reported already. Installed without problems for me on two machines - one 32bit the other 64bit. I didn't watch it so have no idea if it appeared to hang or not.0

what you mean like this: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/03/14/microsoft_windows_7_sp1_fatal_error/0

Takes an age to install - I left mine for an hour.
And as most of the stuff in it is security related, it is always worth it.0
