Hi
I had a qoute for cuting bricks out and fitting lintels as follow:
Is this reasonable for Yorkshire? I don't think so assuming 5-6 days work..
What do you think?
Many thanks
I had a qoute for cuting bricks out and fitting lintels as follow:
- Existing window 1800 x 1200 to be made bigger to 2600 x 1800 using a catnic lentel and cutting the extra brick work
- Existing window 1800 x 1200 to be made bigger to 1400 x 1800 by bricking up a bit and cutting the side a bit with a 2100 catnic
- Existing door 2500 x 1500 to be made into 2500 x 2400 using 2700 catnic
- Existing window 1200 x 2000 to be made 1200 x 2400 using a 2700 catinc
- A 800 opening to be enlarged to 1800 using 2100 catnic between front and back room
Is this reasonable for Yorkshire? I don't think so assuming 5-6 days work..
What do you think?

Thank you for your reply.
When I asked them today what was the labour and over how many days. They said it will take 3 men to do the work over 6 days.
I thought 2 men gang is enough, what do you think?

If you happy go with it, I haven't seen the house/state of the brickwork but two of us turned a 300 wide opening into a 900 wide opening with two conc lintels in 3 hours. 3 men over 6 days seems long I reckon they'll do it in 3. It's a shame you not closer, I know some fantastic Birmingham brickies that could do that job for you.
Anyway good luck0 -
I am not happy with it. I am getting more qoutes as it seems a bit excessive. As you said, it is at lease £1000 out.
What price would Birmngham brickies do similar job? Remember, just lintels in with cutting the bricks out. No plaster!

Bout 2.5 k mate. I can ask if you want, they might only want an extra 100 quid to cover fuel. i'd need pics though0 -
Thank you very much for the kind offer mate. It is something I had thought of actually. They can even stay in the house if they need to as it is empty at the moment (got beds and central heating going). However, a second quote came back this evening as £2950 for 2 men to do it in 7 days. Not the best, but we are heading in the right direction. Now waiting for the 3 rd quote to come back.
I'll keep you posted.Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.0
