Question re confidentiality/data protection?

Hi all,

I have recently moved house and the deposit from my previous tenancy is with the dispute service because I logged a dispute.

On my paperwork I put my address, the landlords address, my land-line number and the agents address.

I have received correspondence and an email from the dispute service, my question is this: Is it acceptable that the agents passed my email address and mobile telephone number to the dispute service without my permission?

During the tenancy I was never given, nor did I expect to have the landlords home telephone number, and I now also have that too (provided by the agents) Surely the agents should not have done this?

Did you ever complete a 'Prescribed Information' form? If so then you probably gave your consent, do you have any documentation about the deposit scheme your deposit is registered with and what the procedure is if there is a dispute?

I don't recall a form by that name.

Yes I have all that thanks, there is plenty of info about the procedure on their website and they are very helpful over the phone too.

Your LA/LL will probably have given your email address and mob number to the deposit scheme when your deposit was scheme registered, precvisely so that you could be contacted by them in relation to the deposit. As few, if any, Ts know their next forwarding address/landline number in advance this makes sense

I suppose that is possible, but what about disclosing the landlords home number ?

It's try to not try and.

My landline and address are perfectly adequate, they don't need to pass on my email and mobile number, and for goodness sake I KNOW the landlord will not be happy I have his landline number.
