EBay Seller Questions

Thank you everyone for your replies.
We decided to issue a refund to the customer, as Likelyfran has said here, it is more hassle than it is worth.
The reason I questioned it is that it is blantantly obvious that the buyer is taking the p and it seems that eBay do not help very much as I have had contact with them about the issue. I guess we learn the hard way about some buyers though. Botanical, I did try the 'after assitance from eBay regarding this matter......'. All I got was a reply from the buyer stating "your customer service is crap".
In relation to feedback extortion, I contacted the relevant department the other day and they have replied saying they do not see the messages as extortion and will not take it any further.
Our product retails at £25 but as mentioned this isn't what we get from the RM. We will get the costs as on our invoices for having the product produced etc.
We have changed the delivery options now, it is recorded no matter what!
Thank you again to everyone for your help and taking the time to respond to me.
Much appreciated.
Regards

Recorded rarely changes the status online to show delivery and is no different loss wise than standard mail. Make sure your business can sustain these extra costs, 74p a go, so even if you only ship 20 items a month it is going to cost you £14.80 .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I don't need to prove anything to anyone, just yesterday I wrote a couple of posts that did not make any sense, but I was the first one to notice and my ego did not prevent me from admitting that publicly.
If someone has to resort to insulting me to win an argument I take that as a compliment
I don't mean to !!!! on your parade, but I said it made you 'look' an idiot. That is, your post did. I don't know you; I only read what is in front of me and the unnecessary patronising tone is not very becoming.
Well done vicki 1986 on just gritting your teeth. I suspect you've been ripped off here, but there is little you can do.Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0 -
As a business seller, you are bound by Distance Selling Regulations, and so the buyer has the right to reject the goods for any reason up to 7 working days after receipt and you are legally bound to give a full refund including the initial P+POne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

We have changed the delivery costs to incorporate the extra costs of sending the parcels recorded, this doesn't seem to have affected sales at all

This is only the second parcel to have gone missing in 6 months, we will complete the lost parcel forms and see what happens with that.
Halibut, I know of the Distance Selling Regulations but in this scenario it seems the parcel is just never going to turn up no matter what.
Flimsier, I have to admit it is hard for me to just grit my teeth but we just have to learn from it and carry on.
