car insurance up 300%

I have been with endsleigh for years, and the insurance renews yearly and I'm generally happy with things, which is why this year I was quite lax about the letter from them, that is, until the letter from premium direct arrives which states the monthly DD is 300% of the previous charge.

I notice this 10 days after the so-called grace period ends :mad:

I phone up and ask 'why the rise' no real answer is proferred. I am told that I had the time to cancel etc and that this is the cheapest quote they have.

I'm annoyed because changed my car in October - how can it have risen 300% in 5 months?

I try to cancel, and they say they will charge me £300 - commission they call it!

Does anyone know of any recourse for this? I feel like I'm being robbed..
