Does their month run from the 1st to end of month or does it start on another date?

My current bank, RBS, the statements start on the 15th of the month.

No, those could be statement periods or statement months, but they're not calendar months.

so what is the Halifax one?

1st to 31st (or 28th, 29th, 30th), ie a Calendar month is January, February, etc.

Depends on the opening date of the account.

That probably depends on when you opened the account, different people have different dates. Mine is the 8th.

For the purpose of getting the £5 Reward, statement dates are irrelevant. As long as you pay in a total of £1000 in a calendar month, you will get the £5.
