Redundancy changes advice please

Hi,

My dh has been working for his company for 20 years and at the beginning of last year (13 months ago) they made all but his team in his area office redundant (they are a large organisation with offices all over the country/world). They kept my dh's team on due to a contract coming up late last year/early this year. The redundancy award was 1 week salary per year worked for the company for these employees but in September the company changed the redundancy to statatory award! Meaning that my dh's team will lose out!

It is looking like the remainder of this office will now be made redundant and we wanted some advice as the whether he might have a case as it seems very wrong and unfair that had he/they been made redundant a year ago he/they would of got enhanced redundancy package. But now they will stand to lose potentially £££ due to this change.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you
