House empty 2 doors down

Dont know if this is in the right place if not please move it....
Baisically their is a house 2 doors down from me which looks absolutly rubbish! It makes the whole street look bad! It has a smashed front and rear window and is just a shambles in a whole! My next door neighbour is deff so its quite hard to speak to him but from what i can gather, he has sent letters to council etc and had squatters removed from that house. He said the house has been empty for over 20 years and thinks the owner 'won' the house in a gamble and the 'owner' has moved back to china. ( this is what he sais, whether he has evidence or not i dont know, but he seemed pretty sure) SO my question to all you clever people out their is... is their anything I can do? It needs to be fixed up and rented out at least! thanks!

you google it m8 ...dont be so lazy..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Google the term "The Empty Home Register" for more info.
Inside this body lays one of a skinny woman
but I can usually shut her up with chocolate!

When I thank a post in a thread I've not posted in,
it means that I agree with that post and have nothing further to add.

dont be so cocky,;) I have googled it, and it tells you it is a charity that baisically gets in contact with a person in the council that will sort the house out! Doesnt tell you much more than that though!

Your local authority may have an empty home officer. They are employed to bring empty houses such as this back into use.

At the risk of being thought exceedingly cocky, did you know that google usually returns more than 1 result and some of the others might tell you what you want to know? Bear in mind no one here is going to read it and summarise it for you ....

Report the empty house via this website:

    http://www.emptyhomes.com/

They should pass the information onto the relevant Local Authority, who with a bit of hope, will take some action.

Nothing p's me off more than seeing houses left empty when there are people on housing waiting lists :( and the owners could be getting some rental income from it.
