Problems getting Halifax Clarity Card

I have had a Halifax credit card for many years and on the 24th Feb I decided to change it over to a Clarity card as we are going the USA on the 1st April. My application was done on the phone and I was advised I would get the new terms and cond through in a few days of which I had to sign and return.

After many phone calls to them I have STILL not received the terms and cond. I have been promised a callback from a manager today and suprise suprise nothing. Really annoyed that I applied for this card in plenty of time and now looks like Halifax cant even post the terms out !!!

Has anyone else had this problem ?

Have a feeling that there is going to be no chance of me getting a card before our trip.

Hampsterholly - your post seemed a depressingly familiar saga ....

I applied for a Halifax rewards current account and rewards credit card early last November. I received the current account debit card and pin very shortly after. By way of background I was setting these up for overseas trips outside Europe during 2011 and would be using these as a substitute for my Nationwide CC and debit card.

The rewards credit card was an entirely different matter though! As a first step I had to cancel 2 existing halifax cc cards (one was a legacy card from Amazon) - which had a combined (and unused) credit limit of some £30,000 - and then reapply for the rewards CC. To my astonishment I was then rejected for the new CC. I appealed this decision almost immediately and eventually - just before Xmas- I received a reply saying that my application had now been accepted and requested various documents to be signed and returned. In January I was asked to supply proof of identity type documents, which were supplied by me by return and in early February these were returned to me with a letter stating I should receive card and PIN within the next 10 days - ie by mid February.

I had still heard nothing by early March so called - to be told that my application had now been cancelled!! You can imagine my irritation to say the least (although obviously not the fault of the person I was talking to). The reason apparently - there is some "new legislation" that has just come into effect which requires that any application is processed within 90 days. As this sorry saga had started in November - the 90 days had now expired. It was only by chance I found all this out when I called - I had no correspondence or call to explain what had happened.

I then applied immediately by phone, which was approved on the spot and armed with a reference No went to my local branch, where the staff there couldn't have been more helpful. All signed up, confirmations dealt with and 7 days later (last Saturday) I finally received a PIN and a new card!! (just in time as we leave tomorrow!).

I wish you the best of luck!

I applied for a Halifax Clarity credit card a month ago.

I waited 10 days, given that was the period noted on the online application form, to process new applications. Didn't hear anything.

After the 10 days were past, I called the Halifax credit card new applications number. The recorded message advised that new applications actually took 15 days to be processed.

So, I waited for the 15 day period to pass, added another week, then called back.

On the phone I was advised that the application had been approved at the 12.9% APR rate and that the terms/conditions would be sent out.

    Still waiting......

My reading of this is that the Clarity card is hugely popular product and they are struggling to cope with the volume of applications.
