Check meter readings!

hi everyone, got the gas bill yesterday, just over £600 for the quater!!! it was an actual reading. so i switched off the heater and proceeded to call the gas company to try and get a flexile payment option set up. was waiting for a call back from the company but nothing, and when the hubby got back from work he didn't believe it and checked the meter to find that the reading taken was about 700 units more than it actually was, double what had been used!

the meter is outside in one of those boxes. i didnt think that the reading could be wrong.:mad:

so if you think its too high then check it, don't give up on hot water!

Alternatively check your own and submit them takes 5/10 minutes tops including call.

As has been posted, probably hundreds of times on here, when you get your bill check the readings against the meter especially if it is an estimate. If they are wrong phone the supplier. 5min work and no shocks.

If it is an actual reading meter readers are human and can make mistakes or it could be a coffee shop reading.
