Need help: Congestion charge & clamp related

I didn't know where to post this but need some help:
I was wrongly charged for the congestion charge zone and since then I requested proof of entering and all I was sent was a cropped image of my licence plate and an excuse of how they did not keep images (seems imbecillic that you would dispose of evidence to support a claim particularly for a fine)
I stayed at my girlfriends flat and suddenly wake up to having my car clamped by a bailiff company who want to charge me £500!!!! when the fine is 100! It seems extreme and very dispproportinate for a fine regardless. COngestion guide says this:
"
Vehicles with three or more outstanding congestion charging penalty charges may be clamped or removed by staff operating across Greater London, including outside the charging zone.
The current clamp fee is £65 and the removal fee is £150. Storage in the car pound also costs £25 a day. If a vehicle is clamped or removed, then all of the outstanding penalty charges and the appropriate clamp/removal and storage fees must be paid before the release of the vehicle is authorised.
If the release fee is not paid, then the vehicle may be disposed at auction or by scrapping. The registered keeper will remain liable for all outstanding charges, including a £60 disposal fee. "
My question is.... who should I go to so that I can reclaim this over charge and do you think it would be worth taking TFL to small claims? 500 quid is a lot of money as i work so hard to earn every penny!
Thanks to all who reply. EVen if just with a comment on an experience.
Kind regards
Me!

Seek legal help if unsure.

Thanks a lot.
They never even sent letters or anything about this.
How the hell did they even track down my car? Their IDs were badly printed and everything!0 -
Take copies of all correspondence and pcn#s and pics. Host them on tiny pic and link them to your post on pepipoo.com. You may well be advised to contact bailiffadviceonline for additional advice.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Have you posted yet on pepipoo? With bailiffs involved you have little time to waste.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You are not stuck.
Try posting on pepipoo but you will have to give them clear info and pics of any letters. Read the FAQs and sticky threads at the top first, plus a few other threads to get the hang of the forum:

The general advice is not to pay the bailiff and to hide your car, I think (but is your car currently clamped?). And act quickly to sort this out! If you had no PCN sent by TfL and the bailiff contact is the first you heard of it all then you can take action to set the matter back to PCN stage I believe. Ask the pepipoo experts urgently, register now!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
