Has the vet ruled out colitis? That's when mutt gets runny with blood in it - the giveaway is that the runnier poo also looks like it's got a slimy coat on it.
I can't see why you wouldn't be insured by the way unless it's something that was known about when you took the insurance out - the treatment and tests should all be part of an ongoing claim, even if they haven't come up with a name/cause yet.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Not sure whether they will all be covered? I dont know whether they are related or not either? I am just so used to insurance companies not paying out I just presumed that they wouldnt! I suppose it wont harm to ask.

If it keeps recurring and the vet is considering further tests, then I'd be expecting the insurance to consider it as one claim. Of course it does help if you smile nicely at the vet and ask them to make sure they put that on their part of the claim form - our surgery is extremely helpful in that respect - a lot of it is down to the wording and how it's phrased.

I came back to suggest that. If it is ongoing and the vets wants to do tests I'd definately call and ask for a claim form. That is why you pay for insurance after all.

Mine has had the runs a few times recently I have found giving him boiled rice, plain chicken, and scambled egg seem to help bind things up.

My Shih Tzu had a very bad case of the runs a couple of weeks ago. It lasted for about 2 days and he also lost blood. I gave him chicken and rice for a few days, which did help, but he still wasn't solid, then a friend offered him some tripe, when he was feeding his dogs. To my surprise he loved it, even though it smelled awful. The next day he was solid, so he I have been feeding him tripe ever since, and he loves it . I buy it frozen, from the pet shop at 75p for a 400g pack.
