Clyde finance

Can anyone help ?

I received a phone call from a company called Clyde finance a couple of days ago offering me a loan. I had gone through the dreaded yes loans so thought perhaps it was one of their lenders. After a long conversation to a foreign call centre the man said my loan was for £5000 and if I completed to paperwork I could have a loan by the end of the month. I asked them to email me and the paperwork.it. was very strange paperwork but I had to apparently complete it and scan it and email it back.
I decided that I wasn't happy to do this and today I got a call from the same person who I spoke to originally saying I needed to get to a library if I didn't have a scanner as I couldnt have the loan if I couldn't email them my forms.
Has anyone heard of this company before ? Are they genuine ? Or rogue traders ?
Your help would be appreciated.

  • Just sounds too dodgy to be real. And coming after a yes loans application, it is 99% likely to be a scam.

This has all the hallmarks of the Indian loan scam.

No doubt they will be asking you for the first months payment up front sent by Western Union.

Seriously, NOBODY is going to ring you will a genuine loan offer - It isn't going to happen, they are all out to scam you.

Is the paperwork in the name of clyde finance? If so they are just a broker, so definately a scam.
  • I regsietered just to reply to this. I too got a phonecall from this company and I was clued into them as I had received a similar call last week from a company claiming to be part of Lloyds. The guys name was Brian Smith and he was quite clearly Indian and I said to him that I didn't believe him and that he was a scammer and that I was reporting him and his company to the Financial Regulator. He backed off pretty quickly. I contacted the Fraud dept of Lloyds and they confirmed my suspicions. Anyway Brian's 'sister' Lara Smith called me today to basically offer me the same deal that Brian nad offered me last week. I am playing along with her until I can get as much info as possible as I am fed up with scammers trying to prey on vulnerable people.
  • I have just been scammed out of £400 and to make matters worse ny girlfriend pawed her jewellery to get the money. They got me at my lowest point after being turned down by my bank. They claimed to be working with my bank and Yes loans! PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.
  • Charlotte you need to change the title of this post, you have posted a thumbs up in the header which sort of says your giving them your approval ?

my wife just had a phone call from them too, so she got them to e.mail the paperwork, and its typical indianlish wording/spelling, also the address is 28-31 Hythe Road ,LONDON , NW10 6RS , which on a quick google appears to be this company http://www.ilondon.co.uk/profile/626028/Willesden/Powerday-PLC/ , so none of it seems to make any sense, apart from they will have all your details, bank details and copies of your ID and address.

    If true, this is tragic.
