Re employed by company that made me redundant.

I have just received a letter from my employer who made me redundant 4 weeks ago, offering me my job back.
I would love to return, but would this effect my lump sum payment I received with regard to TAX ?

It will be a new employment so it will not affect your redundancy payment.
Relax.
And congratulations on your new job.:j:jmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I thought you couldn't be employed by the same company for something like 6 or 12 months if you had accepted a redundancy package?
I also though that if you wanted to go back to work for them you had to return the money if it's withing the 6 or 12 month window?0 -
Check your redundancy terms and conditions for any clawback of enhanced redundancy payments
You may also want to ask and get in writing the reason your old job has now become available in case that HMRC decide to investigate a contrived redundancy.
you may also want to consider how negotiable the offer is, pay, holidays and also a enhanced redundancy package should it happen again like a minimum as if you had worked there for 4 years.
There are no rules about how long be fore a redundant position can be refilled, next day is alllowable if the circumstances are OK.
A returning employee with than a week aways gets continuity of service for a future redundancy. and would make the tax situation something to consider.
AFAIK 4weeks is fine as long as there is agenuine reson the post is no longer redundant.0 -

see above a common misconception usualy brought about by people that work for employer that tell them this to get the money back.
An employer can make up any rules they like.0 -

Depends, there are 2 different issues:
1. What is the company's internal policy - you may have to repay if re-employed soon after
2 The tax man - if he thinks you & your boss are pulling a fast one to avoid tax by puy paing you the tax free £30k then re-employing you soon after. However provifding its a genuine redundancy he doesn't care0 -
My company's policy is no re-employment for 12 months without giving the whole lot back.0

I work for the NHS and there is a need for a 28 day break between employments....
it's great of you have your old job back but do look at the T&C's and maybe ask for it in writing that your redundancy payment is yours... if they won't let you keep the cash ask for it in writing that the previous service will be counted toward any future redundancy (I’m not suggesting they let you count it twice but if having a job means more to you than the lump sum then look into it...)
