second home buildings insurance - not rented out

Can anyone advise me where to get buildings cover for a second property owned by us but inhabited by family members. The family members do not pay rent but provide childcare in exchange for living there. we are struggling to find anyone who will provide cover.

Although you may not have a genuine landlord/tenant relationship, the issue is one of non-owner occupation. I believe you should approach a specialist who may approach this as a landlord situation, or even a second home case.
