I'm 52 and hope to get a particular job in a few weeks time. I have been on Jobseekers' allowance for over a year. I have heard about the 50+ element of something to help those like me getting back into the workplace. Can anyone tell me if it still exists or if the government have stopped this benefit/help?

Hi M I R
Yes it still is in payment, here is the link for rates for 2011/12
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/taxcredits.htm
As long as you've been in receipt of benefits for 6 months plus you'll qualify.
Good luck with the job.
For other benefits with getting back into work see:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Employedorlookingforwork/DG_10013908Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
