Dave..
Well it seemed to work for me....
Over 12 months ago I aqquired a Cashplus Mastercard within two months of it I used that card to obtain a mobile phone contract @ £15 a month which suits me perfect.
As long as I can keep the payment up on the phone and not default it will in time show me with a good credit rating....
I've already successfully obtain two new catalogues to purchase some things for the house on an APR FREE for 40 weeks...
These three things alone should help build a better credit rating in time!0 -
i went bankrupt end of november
i have a co-op cashminder account which gives me DDs and an electron card, I also have a cashplus card which I think is fab
the co-op is open 24/7 08457 212 212 they confirmed my account over the phone.
Hope that helpscoupon over here, coupon over there, every crack filled with coupons even down there(meaning under the buggy lol):D0 -
Splash Plastic https://www.splashplastic.com is much better than Cashplus. Quidity is not bad either.
For an independant review, see http://www.which-prepaid-card.co.uk
Also prepaid cards are not for anyone - they appeal to a certain kind of person especially if you do not have access to a debit card or a credit card
Cheers

Dave..
Hi Dave,
Prepaid cards will not help you build your credit score. They do however prevent you from ruining your existing credit score as they are not linked to your bank account.

Icemoose wrote:Found another with no transaction fees for normal purchases... part of same company but using the Magic Radio Station name...
http://www.bluecorner.co.uk/magic/
This one also has no "Foreign Transaction Fee"
This seems the best one for me and my planned holiday later this year....
Check out there website with details of all the cards they offer:
http://www.bluecorner.co.uk/
There are load fees on these cards.... so I guess it's a case of deciding which is gonna be best for you!
i think it is worth finding the right card at http://www.which-prepaid-card.co.uk as the bluecorner cards are the most expensive as per the review.
Cashplus is expensive but then it is mastercard branded not maestro - which means accepted at more locations but also more a target of fraud as hackers like to target mastercard products.
splash plastic and quidity are the best by far - splash plastic for me as no transaction fee, no activation fee. Quidity has a cashback scheme which gives you back 3% or something like that....but splash is the best by far

This is an interesting thread, as I too thought that these cards were a rip off. But from reading the responses here it does seem that they are good for some people under certain circumstances.DFW Nerd 0350

I think thats the bit everyone seems to be forgetting...prepaid is brilliant for some but all the bad press means that some people who they can really help are missing out as they think it is a scam!!

And nowadays online shopping is cheaper and easier than going out!
I've heard of a card called Splash Plastic, i ordered one a while back but never used it, but after ready some of the above posts i'm thinking i might.
Only problem being not everywhere accepts the card.
Gingertom - can you use that card anywhere? i.e. ebay etc?
Hi Elliebell, you can use the card anywhere that Maestro is accepted - It doesn not matter is this is in the mall, online, on ebay, etc etc - if they accept maestro - they accept splash plastic. I have had my card for 5 years and have had no problems.
Hope this helps! Also, to all those out there who are trashing prepaid cards- you are right, if you have a debit card- maybe you dont need a prepaid card but for those who dont prepaid cards are absolutely amazing.
Now that i have a prepaid and a debit card - i use my debit card usually but use my prepaid card for travelling and any dodgy websites...where i would not want them to know my details or have any link to my bank account.
Get enlightened dudes and dudettes - prepaid is NOT for everyone but for some it is Heaven!! cuz they simply have no other options.

I have just applied for a cashplus gold mastercard..i know it has a monthly fee ect but my main reason for wanting it is online food shopping amongst other things
I do have a solo debit card, but that isnt accepted everywhere and due to poor health the online shopping is ideal for me.
Cant wait for it to arrive0
