I think you should definitely contact your insurance, they will want to know if he's on any medication, if not and he takes a turn for the worse (hopefully not) you may end up not being covered.
Having suffered with similar for the last 6 years at least, I am just starting to venture a little further than 5 mins from home. And that is exactly how it was for me, if I thought I couldn't get home in about 5 mins I wouldn't go. I have ruined more days out, shopping trips etc.,
for my poor family and friends, I have looked so forward to something only to lose my bottle when it came to the time to go that I stopped making any forward arrangements.
I don't know your hubbys circumstances but (and I hope I'm wrong), it's not an illness that just goes away in a couple of weeks.
It may be better for your husband to talk to work and explain that he hopes this holiday, that was pre-booked, will help him to overcome his anxieties and so help him back to work. You never know, they may be pleased he got in touch and kept them up to date with his progress.
    Best wishes to you both.

I was in exactly the same situation as your husband a few years ago. I spoke to my employers who were happy for me to go on my pre-booked holiday as were my GP & Occupational Health. I think that they were all hoping that it would help me towards getting well again.
I hope that it goes well for you all.

Quick up date ... Huuby didn't make it back to work till well after the holiday ... He was off for over 7 months in the long run ... He still hasn't fully recovered and I am not sure if he ever will

Holiday wasn't that good tbh ... Mainly due to hubbys health , was stressful to say the least

When he went back to work they took annual leave off of him for the holiday ( which he is totally fine about) but didn't have an issue with him going
  • Can I just say you sound very supportive in all this, I'm sure it hasnt been easy for you.

Surely if he can go to the cinema, a gig, a holiday in Florida, while being off sick for "agoraphobia" , he is well enough for work?

Is it just me that see's a issue here?

Many people with mental health issues do appear to be healthy from the outside.

I just wonder if your attitude would change if the OP's husband was an airline pilot and you were about to board the plane he is flying or a member of your family was seriously injured or killed by someone driving a works vehicle who was suffering from a similar condition.

Too late to say he shouldn't have been driving.

When they "took the annual leave off him" did they pay him for this? If he was on SSP, then his holiday time should've been paid at his normal rate.
