Ideas on how to dress children up as a fruit or vegetable?

Hi

My kids school is having a fancy dress for Red Nose Day and they have to dress as either a fruit or vegetable? Has anyone got any ideas, as I'm really struggling with this one. They can also dress up a teddy in the same way.

Thanks I was thinking of green jogging bottoms and calling him a runner bean lol
  • You could try and find a pumpkin costume somewhere left over from halloween. Charity shops or ebay might have some.

How about blowing up a few balloons green or purple and pinning them to a top and go as a bunch of grapes?
Wear all orange and spray hair green - carrot (or oompalumpa!!)
Stripy top and a beret -French bean
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

You can make one quite easily with either felt or fleece. If you dont have a sewing machine, just hand sew it. (Its for dolls but just increase the size to whatever you need)

If it's for a small child, buy some red crepe paper. Hem top and bottom with either ds tape or a simple slip stitch but make sure you put some string in first. Pull it till it's ruffled secure strings top and bottom at the back, make slits for arms and make some sort of leaf head thing with elasitc and they can go as a tomato.

Dress them identically and say they're a pear (pair) ;)

Otherwise, I was going to go with the purple balloons for grapes idea. :)
