I got them on my boobs and my thighs with baby 1 & 2 .... and up until about 4 weeks before having baby 3 I had escaped them completely on my tummy. Then 4 or 5 appeared on my bikini line, point upwards. They are very faint, and can only be seen if I am in a bikini. I am expecting baby 4 at the moment, and haven't noticed any new ones yet, but I'm huge at 24+3 so I'm sure I will have some new one by the end. I have bio-oil which I rub on, but I'm not good at doing it daily so haven't noticed whether it makes a difference or not.

I don't care about them really. I'm 30 and have 4 kids (nearly). They are who and what I am - a mum. I know plenty of women and men who don't have kids who have them from weight loss/gain .... it's just one of those things really.

It's not just women who get stretch marks, I went out with a guy who was into weight-lifting and he had loads of them around his arms and thighs.

If you have a nice curvy body and a tanned skin colour, believe me, no-one is going to be looking at your stretch marks! I don't have stretch marks but I'm skinny too and I have saggy skin on my stomach, my boobs shrank after breastfeeding and the bags under my eyes have never disappeared :(
But....I really don't care, my husband doesn't care (he's just grateful to see me naked at all :rotfl:) and neither does anyone else. They will fade, especially at your age and in a couple of years, you will hardly notice them at all. Don't worry about them, they really are just one of those things. :)

I thought I'd escaped them but got lots on my tummy in the last few weeks of pregnancy. I still think they are quite noticeable even a few years on, so I just don't wear anything like a bikini or cropped top. Not sure if things like bio oil help much, I'm a bit sceptical. I guess it's just luck as to whether you get them or not.

Out of interest, If you have a spray tan done, does it make them less noticeable?

I got loads when I was pregnant - huge wide ones too. I don't like them, I'm really self conscious about them, but they do serve as a reminder of the amazing thing I, and my body, have done. If I was told to choose between my son, and having a perfect body (which I didn't have before I was pregnant I might add!), I know what I would choose :)

Couldnt agree with you anymore. I had none until 35 weeks, then got covered in them, then my son died at 36 weeks. Its a no-brainer really.

To be honest, as you get older you become more accepting of the things that you used to obsess on, mostly because new annoyances with your figure come along! Wrinkles, sagging, cellulite, bingo wings ......... Eventually you either stop worrying about it or go the other extreme into surgery, which can create more problems than it fixes.

I have stretch marks not from kids but from yoyo weight.

I have never had any bloke refuse sex because of them so I ignore them. If they don't mind, why should I?

  • redwoodbrook, i am so sorry about your loss.

no, i cant have laser as it does not guarantee it will erase them and i dont have money to waste.
You are all so right about being one of those things that come with pregnancy and a reminder of what our bodies have done.

andrealm, i dont know if spray tan makes them less noticiable, as i am already a golden tan skin type, so i feel just silly making myself darker..i get really dark in the summer! but i heard in white skin it does cover them up.

I only got them on my boobs, I wondered if it was cos I didn;t use Bio Oil on those, or maybe it was because I had a boob job years ago and my skin was already stretched? I do hate them, but luckly they don;t show in clothes, or a bikini (well a little but not much) as they are mainly on the lower part.

I do feel self-conscious but my OH doesn;t seem to notice them now. When he first saw them he said 'they will go won't they?' and I b0llocked him for it though.

You are lucky you tan - I just burn. Be grateful for what you have and make the most of it. I was also a size 8 before babies and now can;t get into my old jeans cos my whole body seems to have changed shape (I'm not hugely bigger, just my hips and back seem to be wider).

Sometimes it gets me down, but I've just had my second miscarriage, and when I look at my daughter I know she is so worth a few silver lines.
