bracelet charm

I bought a charm for a bracelet on the 11th Feb, which was a birthday present for the 28th Feb. The first time this was worn the charm came away from the clasp.
I still have the clasp, but the charm was lost. It is obvious that this was faulty, but H Samuel will not replace the product because they say it was lost.
I have been back to the shop (9th March) and have phoned customer services today (15th March). How can I prove that the item was faulty, it cost £39.99. They are saying the bracelet must have been caught on something. There are several other charms on the bracelet and these are fine.
